Advocacy

Misogyny continues to persist in daily life, especially within professional settings. Despite increasing representation toward gender equality, women still often encounter subtle misogyny that limits their professional growth, leadership opportunities, and recognition in the workplace.

Barriers in the Board Room was created to bring these experiences into the open — through interactive storytelling that places players in situations of workplace misogyny within Filipino law firms, and challenges them to reflect on how their choices either challenge or perpetuate discriminatory systems.

A study published by the Lancet Regional Health reports that approximately one in four Filipino women has experienced gender-based violence, with 41% hesitating to ask for help even with existing protective laws. Research also shows that 99.5% of the Philippine population displays some bias against women (UNDP). These numbers underscore the urgency of raising awareness.
